Lunch at 34 000 feet

I'm on a plane.

And we're off.

So far so good, deep blue skies splotched with candy cotton clouds...it seems to be a nice day to fly.
"Can I offer you a beverage?" Says a friendly voice...and so the in flight service begins, 34 000 feet above ground with a spectacular view.
Now I don't know about you, but I'm always semi-excited about "plane food".

Seems like a feat to keep premade meals warm, tasty and  plated presentably  given the space confinement.
Kinda sounds like the premise for the next food network foodshow....

Choice of Rolls- Corn (pictured), White, Wheat and Parmesan.
But, I'll admit I kinda like airplane food.

Yeah it has it's challenges, trying to cut your meat in what seems like a hobbit plate...all the while with your arms tucked so closely to your chest like you're in a magic escape act.

Then there's the feat of attempting to get the food from the tray to your mouth without looking like a 5 year old.

Twisting, contorting, making faces...well, you get the drift.
And, like a restless 5 year old, I need help to pass the time. I'd rather eat than twiddle my thumbs, plus one requires energy to twiddle those thumbs...πŸ‘‰thumb twiddling relegated to after the meal.πŸ‘

A quick browse of the  Business Class Menu presented on my 6 hour flight on Caribbean Airlines.

A selection.

And it's time to dine.

The Salad

Lettuce, Baby Tomatoes Black Olives, Feta, Green peppers
Salad Bowl accompanied by a Balsamic Vinaigrette

My meal selection - A local favourite

The Buttery Roti Layers
Paratha Roti - A soft crepe like oil/butter bread, that's been violently beaten to give it texture and layers.
Curried Chicken breast pieces coated in a savoury curry gravy accompanied by potato and chickpeas.
Pumpkin-  Soft and Sweet which added a nice contrast to the overall spices.
Spinach- Local variety, sort of resembling collard greens, it has a bite, and a slight bitter undertone.

The Spread- Clockwise- Curried Chicken with Potato and Chick Peas, Spinach, Pumpkin, Roti.

Making a little Roti Taco with Curried Chicken, Spinach and Pumpkin

Dessert - Cakes on a Plane

The Double Layered Mocha Chocolate Cake Square...which I was eventually able to enjoy.

Chocolate Cake ,Mocha frosting, Chocolate Ganache Droplets

The seat belt sign comes on...there's a bit of turbulence. I've ordered my cake and coffee but service is temporarily suspended. I spy the dessert cart. It's filled with fruit bowls and cakes.

Moments pass, then minutes, then hours..okay maybe not hours.

But I've had it...
I'm tired of waiting on my m*!#@!f@$&*n cake on this m*!#@!f@$&*n plane.

Okay..so I didn't actually say that...but...

I was eventually able to enjoy that cake and coffee.....πŸ‘ ***Twiddles Thumbs***
